Training Courses

We highly recommend all Coaches and Team Managers complete the following online training courses via Sport Integrity Australia:

Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport
PBTR - Harassment & Discrimination Course

Each course takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. While these are highly recommended for Coaches and Team Managers, anyone interested in supporting child safety is encouraged to participate.

Additionally, we recommend all coaches at CADBA complete a Community-Level Coaching Accreditation Course through Basketball Victoria.

Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct

The Basketball Victoria Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct is designed to protect children and young people by:

Setting clear behavioral expectations for all adults and young people in leadership roles.
Reducing opportunities for abuse or harm.
Aligning with Victorian Child Safe Standards.

Who must follow this Code?
✔ Any adult involved in basketball.
✔ Any young person in a position of guidance, advice, or authority over other children.

Thank you for your commitment to child safety!

At CADBA, child safety is our top priority. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety, participation, and empowerment of all children involved in our programs. While we have always maintained policies and procedures to protect young players, the Child Safe Standards provide a framework to strengthen our commitment and enhance our efforts in creating a safe and inclusive environment.

This page outlines the policies and procedures we have in place to protect children’s safety and ensure compliance with Basketball Victoria’s requirements and relevant laws.

Our Commitment

Every participant in CADBA activities has the right to enjoy a safe and supportive environment.
We have a moral and legal obligation to ensure all coaches, officials, volunteers, staff, and parents provide the highest standard of care to our young players.

Need to report a child safety concern?
Email: childsafe@chelseabasketball.com.au
All reports will be handled promptly and confidentially.

The Victorian Child Safety Standards apply to all sporting organisations working with children. Compliance requires proper policies, procedures, and a protective culture. Basketball organisations must review their adherence to these standards to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all children.

A Child Safety Officer (CSO) ensures clubs uphold child protection standards, promote a safe culture, and address concerns.

From the Winter season, CADBA will require all clubs to appoint a CSO to strengthen child safety and support young athletes.

Basketball Victoria has zero tolerance to child abuse in any form.

All children and young people have the right to participate in basketball environments where they feel safe, encouraged, and heard.

Included below are policies and other information that help to inform and guide our members, employees, and volunteers of their Child Safeguarding responsibilities.
